Reducing the noise in Glen Ridge

As the Quiet Glen Ridge team gets organized, please visit our inspiration over at quietmontclair.org to learn more about the mission that we have here.

While we get organized, feel free to educate yourself on the dangers of gas-powered leaf blowers. The NY Times recently shared how the "hydrocarbon emissions from a half-hour of yard work with the two-stroke leaf blower are about the same as a 3,900-mile drive from Texas to Alaska in a [6,200 pound Ford F-150 SVT] Raptor".

We love using our rake here, but what is our favorite battery-powered leaf blower? The Ego Power+ LB1650, battery life for both the front and backyard, and a swappable battery to plenty of other useful yard products. Other Glen Ridge residents have recommended the Makita XBU02Z as well.

Did you know that gas-powered leaf blowers "produce more than 100 decibels of low-frequency, wall-penetrating sound — or as much noise as a plane taking off — at levels that can cause tinnitus and hearing loss with long exposure"? No wonder landscapers wear them, should Glen Ridge residents also be wearing them in their backyards?

Finally, we wanted to share a link to a local, green landscaper that quietmontclair.org had shared: Outdoor Digs. Check them out!
